On Friday, October 23, 2026, a female employee of our Marine Tech Solutions Office spoke at the Women and Youth Seminar, “The Future Opened Up by Marine DX: A New Ocean World Where Diverse Talent Thrives,” held as part of BLUE ECONOMY EXPO @Suruga Bay at Shimizu Marine Terminal.
The event brings together companies, universities, research institutions, and local governments in the marine sector to showcase advanced technologies and initiatives in the field. At this seminar, speakers from universities, companies, and high schools shared their perspectives on the potential of marine DX and on how diverse talent can engage with the marine industry.
Hull Inspection with Underwater Drones
In addition to our existing business of supplying marine equipment and parts, we introduced an overview of hull inspection using underwater drones. Through video footage of actual work in the field, we also shared the kind of work we carry out on site.
The Future of Ocean Work, Shaped by Diverse Talent
In the discussion on talent, participants shared the view that, in order to put marine DX to use in society, a wide range of roles is needed. These include not only researchers and engineers, but also those who listen to the challenges on the ground, those who plan services, those who connect stakeholders, and those who communicate its value to society.
The employee who spoke at the seminar shared her experience of building up knowledge about ships through hands-on work, and the importance of conveying information accurately and clearly in dealings with overseas partners and in coordination with those on the front lines. The discussion also touched on the importance of showing people from diverse backgrounds working in the field, so that the marine industry feels more accessible.
This seminar gave us an opportunity to share our business and our efforts in new technologies, along with the experiences of our employees working in marine-related fields. Going forward, we will continue to build a workplace where diverse talent, including women, can thrive by drawing on their individual experiences and strengths.
